Thierry Auzer and Luca Franceschi have produced a successful stage adaptation of Boualem Sansal's book. Presented at the Mois Molière festival in Versailles in early June, the play takes on a special resonance this year, as the Franco-Algerian author has been imprisoned in Algeria since November 2024.
"It's been six months since my brother Rachel died." The opening is direct, almost brutal. Standing before the audience, Malrich recalls, in a firm voice that shows a hint of a crack, the last few months that have turned his life upside down. The story of two young men, from diametrically opposed backgrounds, then begins to take shape. The tension, which is apparent from the beginning, remains palpable throughout, and only a few scenes with a lighter tone provide a welcome respite.
